Ros Hill

When not sipping daiquiris on the beach, retired professor, Ros Hill was the Director of San Xavier Mining Laboratory and Training Center. Prior to joining the Department, he was the Director of National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Spokane Research Laboratory. Before assuming his position with NIOSH, he held a number of positions in the former Bureau of Mines where his research interest included underground metal and coal mine ground control, surface and underground equipment safety and the creation of innovative mine safety training materials. Hill has published extensively, served on several organizing committees, including Organizing Committee for the International Conference on Ground Control in Mining and represented the United States at a number of international forums. He is the 2009 recipient of the H.L. Boling Above and Beyond the Call Safety Award from the International Society of Mine Safety Professionals. He is a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines.
