Lance Steilman was born and raised in Butte America (Butte, Montana) where he started his career in mining. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety & Health from Montana Tech of the University of Montana and is also a Certified Safety Professional (CSP). Lance has over 20 years of mining experience in both open pit and underground metal/non-metal operations from mines in Montana, Idaho, and Nevada.
Lance has been with Barrick Gold of North America since 2000 and is currently the Safety, Health & Security Manager for the Goldstrike mine in Northern Nevada. He has served Barrick as a Safety & Health professional in several capacities prior to becoming Manager, including Industrial Hygiene Coordinator, Division S & H Coordinator, Senior S & H Coordinator, S & H General Supervisor and serving as a S &H Superintendent at both the Goldstrike and Barrick Ruby Hill mines. Lance and his wife Nicole have 2 children, Gage10 and Trapper 9.
Barrick Goldstrike Mine operates with +2500 fulltime and contract employees. It has open pit, underground, and various process facilities all of which contribute to 1 million ounces of gold produced annually.
