Annette Gelfi


Annette has more than 14 years of experience in the mining industry in Australia and the US, working mainly in open-pit copper and gold mines. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Auckland (New Zealand) and a Graduate Diploma in Mining Engineering from the University of Ballarat (Australia). Since 2007 Annette has worked as a mining engineer for Freeport-McMoRan Copper and Gold, and is currently the Chief of Mine Technology and Systems at the Cerro Verde mine in southern Peru.

Core areas of importance to Annette are leadership development, effective communication, continuous improvement and increasing workplace safety. She developed a Safe Behavior Recognition program for her department of more than 50 people with the goal of encouraging safe behaviors and promoting a positive safety culture. This program is now being adopted by other departments and operations. Annette is thrilled and honored to be a part of the Health and Safety Technical Partnership team.
